The practical answer

Turn a vague request into a useful scope, a clear audience and a measurable objective.

What to take away

  • Start with the business objective.
  • Make your reasoning and quality review visible.
  • Turn the idea into one reviewable deliverable.

Start with the business decision

Before asking AI to write, design or build, describe the business problem in one sentence. “We need more posts” is a request for activity. “Customers do not understand our weekday offer” is a problem you can investigate. Ask the client what is happening, what evidence they have and what would count as improvement.

Write five inputs before the prompt

Record the audience, objective, deliverable, constraints and review owner. A restaurant campaign might target nearby office workers, explain a lunch bundle and send interested customers to a booking page. The deliverable could be three creative directions and one landing page, with approved prices and photographs.

Separate facts from assumptions

Mark every claim as verified, assumed or missing. Ask for product specifications, permission to use customer images and the correct terms of the offer. An AI draft can make an unsupported claim sound confident; that does not make it true.

Review against the objective

Check factual accuracy, mobile readability, brand consistency and the next action. Save the brief beside the final work so someone else can see why decisions were made. Use our free brief builder to organize your inputs, then explore the program’s business diagnosis and creative delivery modules.
